This blog post about summer traveling is sponsored by Boiron® on behalf of PTPA. The opinions I have expressed in this post about my better belly routine are proudly my own.
June and July have been very eventful for me so far. In late June, Cassidy and I took a 12-day trip to California and it was WONDERFUL. We landed in Oakland, then headed to San Francisco and our old apartment. We spent a night in Pebble Beach, did breakfast on the golf course and the famous 17-mile drive, then headed to Bakersfield for work. We then headed back up to San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Novato, Calistoga, and Santa Rosa. The west coast beach life can’t be beat.

Our next trip is going on right now! A week in Cape Cod. Sigh. East Coast beach life is pretty great too. When I travel, there are certain items I need for comfort. Like a yoga mat at the beach instead of a towel. You can enjoy its cushioned and waterproof comfort! I also love to bring a DIY facial mist or spray to cool off, as well as sunscreen, and a little beach kit with medications, hair ties, frizz tamers, aloe, and bug spray. And now my list includes Acidil® and Gasalia®!
The thing is, I don’t have a better belly on vacation. Summer traveling can be really rough on digestion, regularity, etc. For me it comes from that away from home thing, as well as anxiety, richer foods, and less water. It’s enough to make me dread going on vacation and I LOVE summer traveling. I pretty much live for it. That’s why I wanted to share my better belly wisdom!
7 Easy Steps to a Better Belly While Summer Traveling:
Fiber:
When you’re traveling, eat more foods rich in fiber – to help keep food moving through your digestive tract. There are many fruits, vegetables, and legumes that can help. Also, I LOVE eating oatmeal while traveling. Here’s a fun smoothie recipe we made in our cabin. Take 2 kiwis, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 container of yogurt (plain, vanilla, or strawberry), 1/2 cup milk, and 2 Tbsp honey. Peel and cut the kiwi into chunks, and put all ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth. If needed, use the Pulse setting for the strawberries.
Drink more water:
Eating fiber alone won’t help you if you’re not drinking enough water too. In general, people are less hydrated when on vacation so make it a point to make up the water lost. This will really help your belly while traveling.
Exercise on vacation:
Every place we stayed in had a fitness center or access to a beach to walk on. I don’t know how it is for you, but I always exercise more on vacation than when at home. It’s all the walking around and exploring. More fiber, more water, and more exercise? That means a better belly!
This is hard while traveling, but try to limit fats.
Or you can have them, because travel and all, but try to pair fatty foods with fibers and proteins. Basically, try for balance while on vacation, but of course leave room for treats.
Eat consistently.
Isn’t that the hardest while on vacation? Aim for three meals a day, and 2-3 snacks around the same time every day.
Watch certain habits.
As it is when you’re at home, cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine can all interfere with digestive health.
Pack your favorite Boiron homeopathic medicines.
And by that, I mean Acidil and Gasalia. Acidil is the #1 selling homeopathic medicine for indigestion and heartburn in natural health food stores. And now it’s available at Walmart! Acidil temporarily relieves occasional heartburn, acid indigestion, bloating, or upset stomach by targeting the three main components of acid indigestion: heartburn, stomach pain, and bloating.* Since it’s a quick-dissolving tablet that melts under your tongue, it’s perfect for travel!
And Gasalia temporarily relieves bloating, pressure, discomfort and pain associated with gas.* They are also quick-dissolving, unflavored tablets that melt under the tongue and can relieve gas anywhere, anytime – and while traveling. With both products, there are no restrictions on when you can take them, no known drug interactions, and no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. And they will not slow down the absorption of other medications or micronutrients.

Boiron was founded by pharmacists in 1932 and is the world leader in homeopathic medicines. So do you have any tips for better summer traveling?

Oh my gosh yes! Summer travel means taking a little extra care of your digestive system for sure! These look awesome and of course I entered 🙂
Yay!! They’re truly awesome.
Thanks for the great info! Bloating is no fun at all and I often have stomach issues if I eat late in the day. Good to know I can find these at Walmart.
That’s a good point! I used to be able to eat at all hours but now I do more of a fast after 8pm.
