I actually had something else scheduled today, but due to a glitch, I threw this together in the nick of time.
Scarlet is a singer-songwriter – did you know that? She made up a wonderful song that has just one or two lines:
“Now I’m here..
Having the more much fun.”
There is a very specific melody attached to this song and once she gets it in her head, she is generally on a continuous loop for about a half hour to hour. And she gets very pitchy. Once it happened during a car ride and I’m pretty sure I saw Cassidy’s hands grip the steering wheel tightly. I mean, we want to encourage artistic growth, but this is so bad that it’s…wonderful. Just yesterday Cassidy was sleeping off a Phish webcast bender (2-3 hours of sleep, tops) and he was resting on the couch. Somehow I got the song in my head and I started singing it. Bad move. Then Scarlet took over, only she was louder and more shrill, and poor Cassidy got up and ran upstairs to sleep in bed. I think she followed him there. And I just thought, “Are we having the more much fun yet?”
And what does it mean to be having the “more much fun”?
In the height of summer, I have low energy days the way I do in the depths of winter. Isn’t that funny? Height of summer? Depths of winter? There must be some symbolism there. I have days in which I’m pretty much done by 4:00 pm – only I still have about four hours left and those four hours are crunch time. And by three it’s make it or break it. Scarlet and I are snipping at each other, the baby is napping, and we’re looking for something to do. Once in awhile, I’m given a true gem – and then it becomes a salvageable day.
Such as a walk to the mailbox with Scarlet. She had seen someone using an umbrella for sun in a movie and wanted to try it. She was already wearing her “Alice” dress. This had all of the makings of a photo shoot, and not only that, one that looked planned.
Even though it wasn’t planned at all.
I have to say – I was having the more much fun on that trip to the mailbox. I now understood what it meant.
How do you have the more much fun?
