It takes me back to my pizza delivery days in college, and how I’d wash out pizza pan after pizza pan with Palmolive®. The smell is timeless to me, and it got out even the greasiest pizza cooking stains. Now I use Palmolive® Fusion Clean™.

I’m in my 30’s and I’ve only just begun to learn the art of cooking. I think it’s never too late to try. Cassidy was a bachelor in San Francisco for 13 years before we met, and can cook up a storm. I think he learned even before adulthood, though. It was a part of his upbringing – with two parents who liked to cook, and with an interest in putting good food on the table. That’s why I think it’s never too late to learn. My children are so young, and they will remember the fun I have with experimenting. They will remember both parents in the kitchen – cooking and cleaning, and learning and loving. To me, that is everything.
I admit I can be a hot mess when I cook. I’m bewildered and baffled, measuring things and dropping things, shaking my head and talking to myself, but somehow, my recipes turn out all right! My kids LOVE grilled cheese. I love grilled cheese. I have attempted regular grilled cheese, but I wanted to challenge myself to making a more adult grilled cheese – BLT Grilled Cheese, with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and good, good cheese. (although it can be argued that all cheese is good good)
This one is a messy one, though. This recipe is cheesy, gooey, greasy, spattery, and all kinds of other made up words. This one is a match for Palmolive® Fusion Clean™ Baking Soda & Lime Dish Liquid and Palmolive® Fusion Clean™ Baking Soda & Grapefruit Dish Liquid. Palmolive® Fusion Clean™ inspires us busy parents to cook up a storm, knowing that the powerful Fusion Clean™ ultra concentrated formula dissolves and loosens 24-hour stuck on food and removes even unseen food residue.

What You Need:
2 slices of a “grown-up” bread. We chose ciabatta
2-4 slices of thick bacon
Softened butter
1 ripe tomato, cut into thin-medium slices
2-4 ounces of grated cheddar, jack, gouda, etc. cheese
1-2 small handfuls of arugula (why arugula? it grills better than romaine and has more flavor)
What You Do:
1. Cook the bacon in a large skillet. Put it aside in paper towel.
2. Brush softened butter on all sides of the bread, even the edges. Add the grated cheese.
3. Add the bacon, lettuce and arugula.
4. Heat a large skillet over medium low. Once it’s warm, cook the sandwiches on each side until the ciabatta is golden, and the cheese is melted. It will take about 3-5 minutes per side. Don’t change the skillet heat! Slow cooking is best.
5. Let it cool for a few minutes and then enjoy.

What do you think? And enjoy, you will. Especially because you have your secret weapon – Palmolive® Fusion Clean™ – to “out-cook” the microwave, and give you a modern twist on cleaning, with its combination of baking soda and the fresh scents of lime and grapefruit. I bought mine at Walmart with other dishwashing liquid products. They were instantly found:

You too, can harness the cleaning power of fusion with Palmolive® Fusion Clean™! It is specially formulated for tough cleaning challenges. What will you make, knowing that your dishes will be cleaned no matter what?

I wish I was invited for dinner this BLT looks delicious! #client
hah, well you are invited! My husband makes his with turkey too. It’s nice and filling! (and messy)
Well, you had me at bacon and cheese! This looks incredible! You know, I have always used Palmolive because it is what my grandma used!
Yes! It’s so awesome. My parents used another one, but now they’ve come to the light side. It’s an awesome product. And we all need it.
So going to try your version. I usually make a grown-up grilled cheese with whole grain panini bread, but the ciabatta looks pretty delicious to me here, too 🙂
It’s so good! And it grills well. It’s not too chewy, which I was afraid of. Panini would also be awesome, my dear!
Your BLT looks so good and I love arugula! It never is too late to learn anything I say! I am a huge fan of Palmolive too!
Palmolive always makes me happy, which sounds strange. I watch TV when I wash dishes, though. And everyone leaves me alone then. Blissss.
Oh this looks so good and ciabatta is one of my favorite bread. I can see everyone devouring this and everything always tastes so much better with bacon. I might be doing this very soon. As for Palmolive, it is one of my favorite and the scents they come out with are just so amazing.
I totally agree about Palmolive..a LOT.
I feel the same way about ciabatta. It puts grocery store sliced bread to shame!
Oh my goodness that looks amazing! Lucky I ate already!
Heh, me too. And I ate THIS!
I have fake bacon in the house. I can totally make this! Looks yummy, Tamara! 🙂
Mmm.. I’ve actually had fake bacon. Not bad! Not bad at all. It would go well here.
Oh my yes, yes and yes! It is lunch time here and I wish I could reach through the screen and grab this BLT, RIGHT NOW! Yum! Seriously how does one survive without Palmolive? It is my kitchen go to!
I wish I could send you it! Why haven’t they invented that yet??
Mmmmm, I love a great bacon and tomato sandwich. Yours looks fabulous. I definitely have to give this a try! Yummy!
Thanks for sharing! Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Wishing you a lovely day too! I do love a good BLT, I admit. And butter and cheese rarely steer me wrong.
I need some grown up grilled cheese in my life right now! That looks so yummy 🙂
Right? I need to make it again today. My last kid-free afternoon of the week.
Yum, I had a grilled cheese when I got off work today. It didn’t look anything like goes though!
It sounds pretty delicious, though! Scarlet gets them for school lunch and claims they’re better than anyone’s. The school cafeteria!
well that looks disgusting. I’m just kidding. I’m drooling all over my keyboard right now. I want all of this. Please come to my house and make it!! Ciabatta is one of my favorite kinds of bread!
haha, I will come! I have to come to Brooklyn again in May (SoFab) and June (Bar Mitzvah).
Now you can add food photography to your portfolio! That sandwich looks amazing Tamara. The kind I’d totally order at a restaurant. Oh and add ‘chef’ to your resume too 🙂
Wow, thanks! I always think I struggle with inanimate objects. I’m such a human photographer that I struggle with the rest. So thank you!
And I really love becoming a foodie. What a far stretch from before.
OMF. You’re kidding me with that sexy hunk of delicious right there. GOSH – why do food allergies plague me. I WANT THIS. I NEED THIS. I must get the antidote to these issues and CHOW DOWN!
I know! Can you make this GiGi-approved? Somehow? Would it be terrible if you ate it? It’s like how diabetics take insulin to eat something they really want to eat on a special occasion. (one would hope, anyway)
There should be a way you can take a pill for one great meal. A day.. I mean.. a week.. I mean.. something. You’re a superhero too, right?
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! lol!!!
Uh oh. Should you sign a waiver? I care about your health!
Well I feel friggin’ SPECIAL!!!!
Oh my, I wish I was eating this right now! I”m a total disaster in the kitchen. The whole getting everything done at the same time always eludes me. This is a truly beautiful sandwich!
Thank you!! Food plating is new to me, but I’m trying here.
That BLT Grilled Cheese looks scrumptious!!! I am about as messy as a cook can get in the kitchen but my food comes out good. Anytime I bake a cake, the kitchen is a disaster 😉
I already use Palmolive dish detergent but haven’t seen the Fusion yet. I’m putting this on my grocery list right now.
Mmm.. taste matters much more than messes, I say!
I hear you on the cake thing.
My mouth is watering…. I love a good ole BLT. Ive never been a cook but my husband YES… he is a master in the kitchen because he always had to cook for himself growing up – cleaning up well is my job and Palmolive is what we use too it gets the job done . I have not seen Fusion yet at the store but I will be looking for it.
Same here! My husband is an incredible cook. Me? Well, I’m learning.
The Fusion is a good product! It’s not everywhere but I was happy to do some searching.
Now my mouth is watering too…I think I have turkey bacon in the fridge but I don’t think mine will look as pretty.
Yum! It doesn’t have to look like this to taste like this!
Mmmmm…grilled BLT & cheese. That looks & sounds delicious. I bet the pepperiness of the arugula is fantastic with the cheese & bacon.
I agree about the arugula. I was going to use romaine but Cassidy and I both thought of arugula instead. It gets “melty” a lot better too.
Wow! That what not what expected when I clicked through. That sandwich is making my mouth water…I need to make it pronto. My kids might object but I would be heaven.
Right? I think the thumbnail that FB used isn’t what I would have chosen. I would have chosen sandwich photos, of course!
I would totally love one of these sandwiches for lunch today! This sounds fantastic!
Me too! And it’s almost lunch time. I’m going for it again.
Grill cheese sandwiches are definitely a guilty pleasure!
Your grilled cheese is the envy of all grilled cheese. That’s restaurant quality presentation right there!
haha, thank you! That means a lot from you!
Your grown up grilled cheese sandwich looks delicious.
Thank you! It even makes my stomach growl to look at this post again.
I’m hungry now. That looks amazing.
And I use Palmolive often! It’s by my sink now.
Same here! Our plumber told me it’s a great product.
You had me at bacon! This sandwich looks like something my family would love. Funny how scents can take you back. We have used Palmolive for ever! My Mom loved it and so do I
I love the original scent, although these new fusion ones are also fun!
That looks like a sandwich that was made to order just for me! I love everything about it. Great presentation too! Palmolive is one of my favorite detergents. It works great and I love the scents.
Well I wish I could send you one through the screen!
Firstly let me say congrats to Parker going home. I just read that post. Love it how he looks like family even with his eyes closed!
LOL at being a hot mess when you cook. I’m a clean cook. When I’m done nothing really needs to be done but eat and wait for the food to cool off so I can put it away. I have had some disasters though. That’s a beautiful sandwich! Just the mention of grilled cheese makes me want one.
I agree about Parker! He’s such a doozer.
I want to be a clean cook. I think I am, but it makes me a hot mess because I keep thwarting a mess, instead of giving in to one. And since I don’t know what I’m doing.. everything takes too long.
Ciabatta is my favorite bread! It’s so nice and crispy on the outside, and holds up so well with all kinds of foods. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I’ll be pinning this one for sure.
LOL. I’m a hot mess when I cook too, even though I’d like not to be, so I waste a lot of time trying to clean up my mess as I cook, which means any recipe is almost doubled in time. That sandwich makes me hungry!
Same here! I waste time cleaning as I’m going and I’m just so slow to begin with!
I love, love, LOVE BLTs!! Today is National Grilled Cheese Day, I may need to get inspired by you for dinner tonight 🙂
XOXO
Really?? I need to go celebrate! I guess I made this a week early.
Glad I already had lunch. Between this and the avocado post I just read…
Only you are talented enough to turn a sponsored Palmolive post into a recipe post, complete with beautiful photos. You could teach a course on this skill, you know.
Thank you! I’m only a year in so still learning but I did creative nonfiction for my degree and I truly do love doing this. I’ll talk to you anytime about it!
