Share Your Ears This Holiday Season With Make-A-Wish Foundation

This post is sponsored by Make-A-Wish Foundation but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Disney will donate $5 to Make A Wish Foundation for every “ear” photo posted on FB, IG or Twitter with #ShareYourEars Nov. 4 - 17, 2018 up to $2 million #ad

Three of my favorite things together. Make-A-Wish Foundation. Mickey ears. And helping others.

If you only read one thing today, let it be this one because it’s a BIG one. Disney is celebrating the 100,000th Disney wish granted globally, as well as 90 years of Mickey Mouse, by inviting fans to Share Your Ears to help make life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses. You can participate! From November 4th through November 27th of this year, take a photo showing off your “Mickey Mouse Ears” or any creative “ears.” Then upload the photo to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Disney will donate $5 to Make-A-Wish®, up to US $1 million, for every public photo posted with #ShareYourEars.

Then Make-A-Wish Foundation can grant even more wishes!

This wonderful program is part of the Disney Team of Heroes commitment to delivering comfort and inspiration to families around the world. I have so many fond memories of wearing Disney ears, and I love that such a fun photo will help the Make A Wish Foundation! Now I have to narrow down all my Share Your Ears photos I have readily available at all times.

Scarlet sure loves her ears:

My favorite ears photo of her was taken at her first time to Disney. I’ll never forget her face when we were on the Monorail. What a day that was! I have to say, though, that it hasn’t gotten old yet. I don’t think it ever will.

Our first Disney trip was booked pretty fast. The flight was pretty fast. The day there went very slowly, but it was just a day, after all. In a long series of days, made different by how it changed our lives, only in the ways that we fulfilled a little girl’s dreams. And revisited some of our own. We remembered. We grieved. And we delighted. It was one day to do it all.

It was fantastic. I see why so many children wish for THIS.

And I want to help grant wishes. So, don’t forget! Do it today. Do it now! Celebrate Mickey’s 90th with a gift to Make-A-Wish! Disney will donate US $5 for every “ear” photo (traditional or creative) publicly posted on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #ShareYourEars from Nov. 4 through Nov. 17, 2018 up to US $2 million! Managing Screen Time: Safety and Control Features of Messenger Kids

This post is sponsored by Messenger Kids and SheKnows Media.

Managing screen time? Messenger Kids is a messaging and video calling app built from the ground up with kids in mind, and parents in complete control. #ad

As we talked about in my last post, Messenger Kids has so many fun features for kids!

I’m also super pleased with all of the safety and control features! It’s so great that it’s fun for kids, while giving parents control over the child’s experience, which comes from its amazing setup. Messenger Kids is a free video calling and messaging app designed for kids to connect with close friends and family from their tablet or smartphone. They can only connect with parent-approved contacts, which creates a safe and more controlled environment. The app is free and can be downloaded in the Apple, Android, or Amazon Fire app stores.

You create an account for your child by adding their name – know that this does not create a Facebook account for your child! After download and installation, hand the phone or tablet back to your child and they can start chatting safely with only family and friends that you approve. This is the first messaging and video calling app built from the ground up with kids in mind, and parents in control. There are many fun features and safety features, which makes parents super happy!

Managing Screen Time: Safety and Control Features of Messenger Kids:

  • The Parent Portal in your main Facebook app has parental controls. From there, you can monitor who your kids chat and text with by adding and approving contacts and setting on and off times through their Sleep Mode feature.

  • When the app is in sleep mode, parents can set a designated off time in which kids cannot send or receive messages or video calls. They also can’t play with the creative camera or receive notifications. The app will “go to sleep” and not be accessible to kids during that time. If they try to open the app, they’ll get a message to come back later.

  • Parents can control the app’s contact list and can also remove contacts at any time.

  • If parents would like to check in, messages don’t disappear and can’t be hidden.

  • Kids can report or block contacts, and they can also report inappropriate content. If they do report something, you as their parent are notified.

  • The app works on all tablets and smartphones.

  • Also, there are no ads in Messenger Kids!

  • No phone number is needed for the app, you only need Wi-Fi.

  • Messenger Kids was built to give parents more control, while giving kids a safe and fun experience.

  • I think that this app is a wonderful way to introduce kids into the digital world.
