5 Ways Of Making The Best Staycation:
There are varying degrees of lockdown all over the world, as the second wave of COVID-19, grabs hold of our cities and towns. This puts all of our holiday plans on indefinite hold. Bummer! Many of us were looking forward to resuming some sort of normal life again. But, wait a moment, what about a staycation? It seems like not all hope is lost yet!
A staycation is essentially a holiday or vacation, that is had domestically. You go around your own country, exploring things that you have only ever seen on your TV screen or on a postcard, (they still have those right?). Here are 5 awesome things that make staycations anything but a poor man’s substitute for a jet-setting holiday abroad.
Chart your own course
The whole point about a staycation is, you pull the strings, you hold all the cards. No holiday agency is telling you what you can and can’t do, in their package holiday. Using a charter bus, you can go to many different locations, with your entire family and friends. You can make it a huge event, as the cost of a charter bus rental is easy to calculate online. Is it a round trip? A one-way? Maybe you would like to set a time and or date schedule, for when you wish to be in a particular city, town or village? This can all be done online!
Room service
Yet even during a staycation you can have room service. The rub is, you have to take turns doing it! So if you have a spouse, or if you’re a dating couple, one of you has to be the room service attendant for two days and then the other person does it. It’s part of the fun, and wanting to please and surprise each other! Take turns making dinner, and wheeling it into your bedroom. Bring a bucket of ice with some champagne in it! Get creative.
Buy a souvenir
As you would, while abroad, why not buy a souvenir of the places you visit? While on your staycation march around the country, or region, you should buy mugs, portraits of landscapes, keychains and other memorabilia that will remind you of your travels, once back home and rested.
Book a self-catering accommodation
While you’re visiting various places, don’t forget to book a local room. This isn’t in a hostel, hotel or bed and breakfast. Try to make sure it’s self-catering. You get total privacy and you also get to cook! Go to the local grocery store and buy some things, to make a brilliant meal you have chosen ahead of time. Try something new and audacious, cook together and make a night of it!
Take photos
You may be dissuaded to take photos of your staycation because, well its home isn’t it? But, remember this is your time to relax and explore. You should take pride in your country, take photos of every location and attraction you visit!
Give a staycation a chance! You never know you might learn to love it and decide that actually, adventures in your own country are just as amazing as those abroad.
