5 Things to Do Every Day for Your Heart Health

Heart health is a topic super close to me.

My father passed away suddenly from heart disease when I was three-years-old, and I have spent my life choosing different ways to live, and knowing how and when to ask for help or testing, should it be needed. Last summer, my father-in-law had a septuple bypass surgery. I remember that being one of the scarier experiences of my life – visiting him in the hospital and waiting for medical info – but he has since recovered nicely and spent three weeks in Spain last May!

3 – Watch your salt intake and eat a heart-healthy diet. Choose good fats and avoid trans fats, and eat more whole foods and produce, rather than packaged food. Don’t add more salt if possible.

Blood pressure is related to heart health!

4 – Watch your stress. You want to keep your blood pressure low, so it doesn’t strain on the heart. Breathe more deeply during the day, and don’t sit for too long. Get moving and breathing!

  1. Definitely going to look into this as heart issues run in my family on my dad’s side. His mom had a massive heart attack and died when I was only 18 months old and my dad had one a few years back, too. Thankfully, my dad’d wasn’t as severe as his mom’s. But still, do need to think about this myself now as I am getting older. So, again thank you so much, my fried for sharing. <3
