It took a vacation to make me realize some things about wellness in 2019! Here are 5 awesome things I've been learning in the new year. #ad #LiveFlavorfully @CelestialTea

It’s not so unusual that I’m learning a lot about wellness while on vacation!

We’ve been in Florida for awhile, and it’s not so difficult to take it easy on vacation – minus the 13 hour theme park days with their early morning wake ups and fireworks finales. That said, it’s still been a wonderful way for me to discover how to apply those wellness aspects and routines of vacation into regular daily life. Yes, you can really do this in REAL LIFE!

With our schedule, we’ve been going to bed early, waking up early, going for walks on the beach, eating fresh produce, and taking time to read, breathe, and play. It’s been – in a word – HEAVENLY! Why not do that regularly, but in a modified way?

5 Things I’m Learning About Wellness in 2019:

1 – Managing, maintaining, and growing personal relationships is crucial. That sounds like a lot of words, right? I have many amazing people in my life but I go through phases of being an introvert or extrovert. Sometimes I’m struggling with personal issues and I retreat rather than reach out. Then I come out from those shells and realize what I’m missing. I make goals weekly to contact a friend for a coffee or breakfast (or dessert/drinks) date, and also to reach out to a loved one by email. When I’m feeling really ambitious, I even send cards and letters. I’m stunned by the impact it has on all-around health.

2 – Trying 15 minutes. 15 minutes is pretty powerful, actually. Here are a few ways you can use 15 minutes. Get up 15 minutes early and get a mindful start to your day. Try it for a week or a month! Feel the difference. Start adding a 15 minute brisk walk to your evenings or mornings. This will keep you mentally active and fit, and also get you fresh air.

3 – You can set up your place(s) for wellness success. In the kitchen, I can organize my fridge and cupboards to have healthy options within reach, prep my meals, and keep spices around to liven up my meals. In my closet, I keep my vitamins and supplements and activewear within reach. And, in the bathroom, we store our scale by the bathroom vanity so we can use it first in the morning. There’s something about having everything in its right place and for wellness that feels great!

4 – It’s fun to take steps and especially with a (free) activity tracker on your phone. Mine has a goal reach of 10,000 steps a day. Back home, I thought that was hard. When I take the dogs to the park, they tire out after 3-4K steps. That said, we were averaging 15,000 – 20,000 steps at the theme parks. It’s made me realize I can be creative in how I get my exercise.

5 – Having a nighttime routine is good for the body and the soul. I can’t say enough about this! I was inspired by all the family members in the generations above and below ours because they seem to have the routine thing down pat. And the new year, especially after a new year vacation, is the perfect time to kickstart new routines to keep all year long.

The biggest joy in my evening or nighttime routine is to enjoy my Celestial Seasonings! There is nothing like a really good cup of tea. They have a variety of different teas that fit perfectly with my 2019 routine! And they have flavorful teas that are 0 calories! For the daytime, I enjoy Peppermint, Country Peach Passion, and Honey Vanilla Chamomile. At nighttime, I enjoy Sleepytime Extra, Sleepytime Detox, and Sleepytime Sinus Soother. They give me such joy!

Sleepytime Extra promotes relaxation, is caffeine and gluten free, and has no artificial flavors, colors or artificial preservatives. *with calming valerian.

Sleepytime Detox promotes natural cleansing, is caffeine and gluten free, and has no artificial flavors, colors or artificial preservatives. *with aloe, green rooibos and dandelion root.

Finally, Sleepytime Sinus Soother is an important one for me this time of year. It promotes respiratory comfort, has an uplifting menthol aroma and flavor, is caffeine and gluten free, and has no artificial flavors, colors, or artificial preservatives. *with soothing tulsi and nettle.

Not only do these healthy teas come in a large assortment of full flavors, but Celestial Seasonings has a dedication to sustainability with stringless tea bags that come packaged in recycled boxes. And, they’re significantly less expensive than competitors.

They’re easy to find at Walmart where you can purchase Celestial Teas for yourself! Not only can you pick it up in aisle, but you can find it for online grocery pickup.

  1. I had no idea that Celestial had the “Sinus Soother”. While I hate going to Walmart on Sunday’s this just might make me do it.

Nothing like a rejuvinating vacation in more ways than one.

      1. I did go out that same day to get it and there were none on the shelf. Everything else was there but the sinus soother was gone. I said wow it must be good. So next time I went I checked again and they had it. I haven’t used it yet. I should have last night though but I had wine instead which made me even stuffier.

  2. Girl, you are my hero. How you find time to publish on your vacation is amazing to me, but I’m glad I read this because I feel like I’m getting really good at making excuses lately. Which is silly, because like you said, all it takes is 15 minutes to make a world of difference. I can do a lot in 15 minutes, and having an energizing walk in the morning or 15-minute meditation or 15 minutes to read a book uninterrupted—all are essential for me to function like a human. Also isn’t it crazy how many steps you get in at an amusement park? I hope you are having the bestest time ever with the family!!

    1. hahaha, I know we texted about this. Blogging on vacation was seriously eye-opening for me. It was so.. relaxed. And I really did need the tea..

  3. Keeping track of my steps is a lot of fun and having a night time routine is so important, I love the addition of tea, especially sleepy time tea. Have a great week Tamara 🙂

    1. Agreed! Although I love to leave my phone in the car while shopping but shopping through big stores is major steps-tracking! So I have to do it..

  4. I pretty much love a routine at any time of day:) I definitely follow one in the evenings, and a cup of soothing tea is a great way to wind down and get ready for sleep. Routines helps alleviate stress and make us feel in control.

  5. Sleepy Time tea is like a family staple! My cabinet has 3 variations right now 🙂

Your suggestion for the 15 minutes is brilliant! You can do a lot in 15 minutes!

  6. I just love hot tea this time of year. Glad you are getting some rest after those long (but fun) days! Love Sleepy time tea and have been drinking it for years!
