5 Signs of a Healthy Pet You Need to Know
As pet owners, we want to make sure we know all of the signs of a healthy pet. See what to look for and how to give your pets a healthy life! We have 23 pets! 20 are chickens, though.
Let’s talk about keeping a healthy pet!
As you probably know, having an extra pet means extra love. It also means extra work, and that’s the kind of work we love.
5 Signs of a Healthy Pet You Need to Know:
1 – Has a clean, shiny coat.
Although my dogs get super muddy in New England spring, for the most part, they have shiny and clean coats. They do need occasional baths after rolling around in stuff I don’t even want to talk about but otherwise, they rarely need baths.
2 – Maintains a consistent, lean weight.
Dog and cat obesity is a top health concern. If you notice that your dog or cat has dropped or gained a noticeable amount of weight, call your vet. Dogs and cats can get serious health problems from being overweight.
3 – Has fresh breath.
A clean mouth is a healthy mouth! Dogs and cats, like humans, can get gum disease and tartar buildup. Our pets get routine dental care (or at least dental checkups) to ensure healthy teeth and gums.
4 – Your pet is engaged with you.
Healthy pets, especially dogs, like to spend time with family. Dogs greet you at the door, want to play, and are generally interested in what you’re doing. Cats can be super independent, but Junie bonds to at least some of us! When I’m away, she’s always happy to see me when I return home. And we have our quiet cuddle time. There are many indications that she’s interested in our actions, and I would certainly notice if that stopped.
5 – Has regular bladder and bowel movements.
And with both cats and dogs, you can tell when something is off. With the dogs, we can tell because we clean up after them in the yard and at the park. And with Junie, well, litter boxes can reveal a lot! That’s how we figured out she had a bladder problem. And that’s why we’re happy to know what we know about feeding our pets healthy food.

Aw, twins! Yeah we have gone through a lot of foods but this one is right in terms of vet’s recommendation, price, and dog’s preference.
