New Year’s Eve Countdown Cupcakes

I was just telling my mom the other day that I used to hate New Year’s Eve, and now I love it.

It used to mean something totally different.

It used to mean the end of a warm and festive holiday break, and the re-emergence into school. Sometimes, that was an ok thing – probably, mostly – and sometimes, often, it was utterly soul-crushing. Like the end of any good thing that was filled with all the feels. I don’t like missing people. Often, I’ll do anything to avoid it. Yes, there are people I will miss at the end of this break. That hasn’t changed. However, we throw such a fun, foodie party with a big group of friends and we have out-of-town guests. Then January comes, and brings with it new resolutions and inspiration. Then we go to Florida for a week. We will plan new house renovations (phase 2), a potential exotic trip, and just plain shiny newness. I love shiny newness.

For years now, we’ve had a New Year’s Eve night to remember, right at home. I’m proud to be partnering with Domino’s® to share all about one of my favorite holidays, and how we jazz it up just right at home with the right friends, food and fun!

Whatever your NYE plans are, make sure you include Domino’s in them. Here's 5 ways we jazz up our New Year's Eve celebrations right at home! #ad #DominosNYE

When I was a kid, I didn’t like New Year’s Eve – because it meant that school was starting back up again.

These days, I LOVE it. I love New Year’s Eve, I love New Year’s Day, and I love the clean and fresh promise of a new year. It doesn’t hurt that we always go to Florida in January – making it one of the more exciting months out of our year. And it doesn’t hurt that we have AWESOME New Year’s Eve celebrations. I’m talking total foodie, fun and friends fest. So good!

New Year's Eve celebrations

For many years now, since Scarlet was a baby, we have shared New Year’s Eve and Day with close friends who live near Boston. For five or six years now, our SUPER close friends from Chicago have come too! They are our house guests for 3-4 nights every January. One year we had to split up a bit because there were just too many families involved, so we went to the house of the friends we started this tradition with – the ones near Boston. We had taken two cars to take all eight of us (my family and house guests) there and a ride that usually takes 1.5 hours took 4 hours for all of us because of terrible Boston-area traffic. So, we got there after 8:00 that night and had a giant sleepover. That was the year that changed things.

Since then, we host right here in Northampton every year. And it’s so festive!

Food is served from afternoon until 1 or 2am. In reality, there’s brief sleeping and then we pick right back up again with a brunch. That said, I’d love to share my ways to jazz up a New Year’s Eve night at home, and why Domino’s is everything!

I’ve been a fan of Domino’s for two decades now and they have all the right ingredients (and lava crunch cakes.. ahem) to make sure you have the BEST New Year’s Eve right at home plans EVER. And there are coupon savings, so keep reading!

5 Ways to Jazz Up Your New Year’s Eve Night at Home:

1 – Dress up. I remember one year, I wore flannel pants. Never again. It feels like a real party when I dress up! (and it is)

2 – Invest in a fun laser light show. We usually have special lights going and the kids LOVE it. They dance in the center of the room and try to “chase” the shapes and colors on the wall. If we’re being honest, the pets like it too.

3 – Make a signature drink every year. And make one that can be enjoyed by everyone – kids and adults alike!

4 – Set up a sheet or projector to project a movie or music show. This will get the party hopping!

5 – Whatever your New Year’s Eve plans are, make sure you include Domino’s – because it’s SO GOOD! We get Domino’s Marbled Cookie Brownie™, Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes, Parmesan Bread Twists, and Ultimate Pepperoni Pizza for the win.
