In our family, we have a lot of both big and small traditions. For bigger traditions, we always do a NYC trip in or around November, we always do the Santa’s Trains event at our local park, along with a holiday hay ride, we always go to the Christmas tree farm and pick the biggest and puffiest tree ever, and we celebrate Christmas itself at my parents’ farm. We do AMAZING Secret Santa exchanges. Since there are five of us kids, and spouses, we pull names and then have fun shopping for our Secret Santa recipient. And this is separate from getting all the 9 grandkids gifts. Also, we make Christmas cookies!
And since we grew up celebrating both Chanukah and Christmas, every year we have a Chanukah party and two Christmas parties with three sets of grandparents. On Christmas day, We have a huge brunch and then stay in our pajamas all day until the huge dinner. What a luxury! There are also the daily and no less amazing holiday traditions we do right at home.
And that’s the (holiday) story of how we fell in love with our Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet. It’s because we can bring back the nostalgic holiday traditions of our childhoods and introduce them to our children with Amazon FreeTime Unlimited.
5 Holiday Traditions We Enjoy on our Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet:
1 – Holiday movies. There is a large variety of holiday movies that are available in Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, and also for a variety of holidays. We love Arthur’s Perfect Christmas and Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year. After all, what’s the holiday season without holiday movies to enjoy together with pajamas, puppy cuddles, and a bowl of popcorn?
2 – Reading a holiday story each night. I love that we can use our Fire HD 8 Kid Edition tablet and Amazon FreeTime Unlimited to read a holiday book together. Often, Scarlet reads to Des. We love “Hanukkah Delight!” by Kare-Ben, and “Winter, Cold and Snow” by Sleeping Bear Press. It’s one of the most special traditions we have!
3 – We listen to Audible books. Sometimes when we’re winding down at night, it’s just nice to be read to, isn’t it? And we have awesome holiday titles available in Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, like “Corinna the Christmas Elf”, “The Great Sled Race,” and of course, “The Night Before Christmas.” That one is a Christmas Eve MUST!
4 – We play Christmas games. This is a particular treat for my kids. They have more time over holiday break to use apps and games. Have you heard of Christmas Hair Salon – Santa’s Barbershop & Kids Cuts? Or the Santa Claus Game!
5 – We listen to holiday music. And we can take it with us too! The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet has an Offline Mode – in which you can download content you want before your holiday travel, and then you don’t have to worry about Wi-Fi.
And it needs to be said that Amazon FreeTime Unlimited even has kid-friendly cookbooks for holiday meals and desserts. Such fun! The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet is the #1 kids’ tablet in America. It comes with a kid-proof case and a two-year worry-free guarantee that if they break it, simply return it to Amazon, and they’ll send a replacement for FREE – with no questions asked. We love that the tablet provides educational and entertaining content that kids love. Scarlet loves Hamilton and found a Hamilton book the first time she used the tablet. And everything was easy to set up in her name.
Speaking of which, the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet and AmazonFreeTime can provide peace of mind for parents. When we use the Parental Control settings in FreeTime, we can set time limits, adjust age filters, enable/disable web browser access, and choose whether to allow in-app purchasing. And we can use the Parent Dashboard to review the digital content our kids are using in FreeTime, determine how to manage time limits and educational goals, and remotely adjust our child’s FreeTime settings. And Amazon FreeTime Unlimited provides access to over 20,000 books, videos, Audible books, educational apps, and games that are age-appropriate and hand-curated by the Amazon FreeTime team.
Not only that, but my kids also have access over 1,000 age-appropriate, Spanish language books, videos, educational apps, games, and Audible books, plus thousands of kid-friendly and hand-curated websites and web videos.
