Even though they feel so far away, they’re not! Thanksgiving is only a little over two weeks away. Hanukkah and Christmas are really not that far behind that! 5 Ways to Crush Health and Fitness Goals This Holiday Season:
1 – Make exercise a priority by scheduling it. Things are more hectic during the holidays, no doubt, so treat exercise like appointments and meetings. Try adding it to your calendar and make it a goal to exercise for 30 minutes, 3-5 days a week.
2 – Hydrate, and then hydrate some more. You should be drinking about eight, 8-oz glasses of water a day – but maybe a little more or less depending on your body weight. One thing I do is keep a 64 ounce water jug near me. I fill it in the morning and then monitor how much of it is gone by the end of the day. However you measure your water, find a way that works for you.
3 – Be social at holiday parties. I know that I can be the center of attention, or a wallflower, and I don’t always know which side of me will come out. When feeling wallflower-like, I’m probably more likely to be at the food and beverage table so I can avoid eye contact, and I can look busy. Don’t do that! Look for people doing that, and introduce yourself. Start a game, start a discussion, or start a dance party. That helps with fitness too! Dancing is the best exercise EVER.

4 – Seek alternate gifts to baking. Chances are that while you’re baking, you taste test and then eat the samples too. Instead, make non-food gifts or make fun food gifts that are in jars, or boxes, and don’t invite sampling.
5 – Shop well for yourself, concerning food this time of year. Stock your fridge with healthy produce and your pantry with healthy snacks. Make healthy snacking convenient for you, by having awesome on-the-go options at the ready.
