As you probably know, there’s a light in your child’s eyes when they discover a love of learning.

My kids surprise me on a daily basis! To my big surprise, neither of them learned to read at age four like I had! That said, mine was for a particular emotional and developmental reason, and once my kids got the extra push they needed, they both rose to the top of their individual reading groups. Another thing that surprises me is that both love science, and both love math! I NEED to tell you my math story. I’m bursting to share. So my math story is an odd one that only makes sense now.

I was always good at all subjects until sixth grade. I had a fairly mean teacher and not necessarily supportive classmates and I started to fall through the cracks. This stayed with me, and only got worse, until senior year of high school when we could choose our own math classes. I chose Trigonometry, had a wonderful teacher, and did well. When it came time for college placement exams, I did so well on my math section that I placed OUT of math. Literally. I never had to take math in college, or really ever since high school! I did html/coding instead. Now I wish I had kept with math, if only to enjoy it with them.

I don’t believe it’s too late for me, and I KNOW it’s not too late for them. The thing is, it was with me all along. I was GREAT at math. I let my inner voice and the voices of others get in my way too much. And I struggled for SIX years. It was my Kryptonite, until the day it wasn’t anymore. I took control of the situation. Here’s where it gets odd again. Scarlet doesn’t have homework. Yes, you read that right. Her teacher, and to some extent the school district, don’t believe it’s beneficial at all to work at home, when you can be reading and experiencing life. So Scarlet was ASKING me for extra math activities.

And that’s where Revolution Math comes in. And you!

For whatever reason you can think of – confidence boosting, extra tutoring, school has no homework, etc. – there’s a reason your kids (and you) will love Revolution Math. So now you’re probably wondering what Revolution Math actually is?

The Basics of Revolution Math!

Revolution Math is a program that combines live online tutoring from pro tutors with a story-based curriculum. This makes the learning process a ton of fun for the kids and delivers results for parents. It can be done from home – super convenient!

5 Reasons We Love Revolution Math For Our Family:

1 – Like I said, it can be done at home. You know what Scarlet wore to her first class? Her Halloween costume – a character from Hamilton! As for Des, he didn’t know that I meant we were doing the “math class” at home and he had his shoes on ready to go! I told him all he had to do was sit at my desk chair, or sit on the couch with a tablet, and his eyes lit up.

2 – Both kids have confidence/shyness with adults and other kids they don’t know and Revolution Math addresses that. Think about it – they’re put in a class with a new teacher and other kids and asked to speak up, do math, help with story-telling, etc. How cool is that? Both of my kids were shy at first, and slow to warm up, but they did! Progress is progress.

3 – It’s a smart after school activity! Without a lot of homework and on days without after school activities, this IS an after school activity. And it’s one that builds multiple skills so it’s really a win-win situation.

4 – The teachers are super engaged. With small class sizes, there’s no room to duck down in the back of the class. In fact, you’re ON during the class, but the teachers are kind and supportive. You get email updates about your child’s progress after every class session, with strengths and things to work on.

5 – For us, anyway, it’s relationship building. My kids definitely bicker quite a bit, but Des is Scarlet’s little brother. When it comes to Revolution Math, she’s by his side. Just look at her helping him and being there for him:

More about Revolution Math. It’s an innovative program designed to help 2nd-5th graders develop their math skills and foster an overall love of learning. This is a live, online interface that integrates an interactive learning experience with a story-based curriculum and Common Core aligned math games. Your kids will enjoy a small class size of only four students, and like with mine, that helps them to build confidence under the instruction of a dedicated teacher for 60 minutes each time.

Why does it work? It’s 60 minutes each week for kids to go on exciting journeys with friends and teachers they start to know. It helps them gain a procedural fluency and conceptual understanding of critical math concepts.

And, you can track your child’s progress online and through weekly video updates from teachers!

Here’s where it gets awesome in that “you have nothing to lose and SO MUCH to gain way.” You can get a 4 week trial of Revolution Math! That’s 4 weeks with a live instructor and a complimentary learning kit that includes: dice, pencil, protractor, graph paper, area tiles, flash cards, character masks, and a poster. 4 weeks with a live instructor is my favorite, although masks are cool. 4 weeks of Revolution Math tutoring for FREE! And an awesome learning kit delivered for only $1.
