Loving Ice Cream Again: My Favorite BJ’s Wholesale Club Product

With 260-330 calories and 20 grams of protein per pint, it's no wonder that #breyersdelights are just that - a delight! All of the taste and none of the guilt. Come see why. #ad

First of all, it’s no surprise that I love BJ’s Wholesale Club.

When I lived in San Francisco, after 26 years in New Jersey, I missed so many comforts of home from living in the northeast. When we moved back together to start a family two years later, and settled in Massachusetts, one of the first places I visited was BJ’s Wholesale Club. I had missed my favorite store! Now we live sandwiched between two great locations – one way out in the country and one in a city. I love going to both locations, and being a satisfied member of BJ’s Wholesale Club.

It’s because you never know what you’ll find. I love the samples and the whole experience. They have yogurts you can’t find anywhere else. They have books and clothes and toys you can’t find anywhere else. And have you seen the candy selection? I love the bakery, the butcher, and the produce section. It’s out of this world! With the new year and my commitment to better eating, I was SUPER excited to see their dessert section and what’s in there: Breyers delights Cookies and Cream.

It’s that whole new year, new you thing. 2018 is a big year! I don’t know why, but just go with it here. Personally I love to be freely enjoying a treat that’s better for you, and still tastes delicious. Breyers delights from BJ’s are made with high quality ingredients, natural sourced flavors, and all American dairy. And they boast 330 calories and 20 grams of protein!

This reduced-fat ice cream, made with real cookies and fresh cream in every bite, will delight your taste buds! We should also talk about how awesome BJ’s is with its fresh choices, surprising finds (like this), and low prices!

As I said above, there are 260-330 calories and 20 grams of protein per pint. They’re made with fresh cream and all American dairy. They have 1/2 the calories, vs. comparable Breyers ice cream flavors. They also have 2 times the protein, vs. comparable Breyers ice cream flavors. And they use sustainably farmed vanilla, RFA vanialls. They have 20-40% less fat, vs. comparable Breyers ice cream flavors. And mostly? They’re just really really delicious. That matters.

It’s perfect just to snuggle up with a roaring fire and a yummy pint of ice cream. I love how they come in 4-packs so you can enjoy four pints at your leisure. That first dig into the creaminess was pretty awesome for me.

Love is in the Air: Cupid’s Rice Krispies Treats

These Cupid's Rice Krispies Treats are adorable! You'll wow your classmates or workmates or party guests! #ValentinesDay

I think I promised you a few Valentine’s Day stories, didn’t I?

I’ll let them come out in waves. Nothing really beats the puppy one, and I have a big happy/sad one, but I’ll have to tell a light-hearted one first. One Valentine’s Day, I had bronchitis or something like it. I don’t know what it was but I was pretty sick, and my sister had the same symptoms that I had, and she was diagnosed with bronchitis. That said, we once both had chigger poisoning and she missed three days of work for it, while I powered through with anti-itch spray. I digress, though.

Bronchitis on Valentine’s Day. It’s like.. my favorite holiday. (they all are, if you haven’t noticed)

So I thought it would be a good idea to eat Lucky Charms when I was really ill, because we only got to have “junk cereal” a few times a year. That didn’t go well. I took to bed with both throat pangs and stomach pangs. That didn’t stop me from getting THREE heart-shaped boxes of chocolate that year. I couldn’t enjoy them for a few days, but I could enjoy the fact that I had wished upon every star to have my first heart-shaped box of chocolates, and finally got one three. One was from my awesome dad, one was from my sister – who had already recovered from bronchitis – and one was from a boy from school. ooh ahh. I was 13. And that’s it. Be careful what you wish for – you just might get three! And I ate each box.

Bronchitis be darned.

That’s why I decided it’s time to change the subject and share a fun and unique Valentine’s Day recipe with y’all today! Cupid’s Rice Krispies Treats are pretty much perfect, according to Scarlet. She made me promise to make them three times:

6 C. Rice Krispies cereal
6 tbsp. butter, cut into chunks
10 oz mini marshmallows
2″-3″ heart cookie cutter
3 C. powdered sugar
1/3 C. melted butter
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp. milk
Pink food coloring
Small round frosting tip
Disposable piping bag
Valentine sprinkles
Red gummy Heart candies (I used Brach’s)
Kitchen scissors

1 – Line a 9×13 baking dish with foil, and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
2 – Heat the 3 tablespoons of butter and 10 oz of mini marshmallows in a large saucepan or dutch oven, stirring occasionally.
3 – Once the marshmallows are 3/4 melted, pour in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Gently fold the cereal into the melted marshmallows and pour the Rice Krispies treats into the prepared baking dish and evenly press into the pan and set aside.
4 – Combine the powdered sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter, vanilla extract, and a tablespoon of milk at a time. Once the frosting has reached your desired consistency, add in a few drops of pink food coloring and stir to combine.
5 – Attach the small round frosting tip to the disposable piping bag and fill with frosting.
6 – Use the heart cookie cutter to cut the Rice Krispies treats as close together as possible getting as many as you can.
7 – Take one Rice Krispies heart at a time and place one toothpick on each side so it looks like an arrow coming out from each side.
8 – Stick one gummy heart candy on one toothpick.
9 – Take a second heart and use the kitchen scissors to snip a triangle out of the top. Place this heart on the other toothpick.
10 – Gently squeeze the frosting out onto the heart in a back and forth motion.
11 – Sprinkle with Valentine sprinkles.
12 – Repeat with all the Rice Krispies hearts.
