The 10-Day Detox: 5 Spring Goals For My Dog

This post was sponsored by Supreme Source® as part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Time for a #SuperFoodSwitch! We're taking the 10-day detox with our dog, Athena, and talking about wellness goals for her future this spring. Check it out here! #ad #IC

I don’t want to put words in my dog Athena’s mouth, but I think spring is her favorite season!

What’s not to love? It’s the season that gets the four of us going, so in turn, that gets her going. On the gloomiest of winter days, it’s so cold and icy out that none of us leave the house. I’m pretty sure Athena knows where she stands pretty early in the day because she doesn’t have her usual gusto – her usual pep. When spring hits, she loves to take sunbaths and race around the yard while Cassidy gardens and tends to the chickens. Athena will even go down the slide like my kids will!

We all need change in the spring. Just like my kids (or even I) can be picky about the food we put in our bodies, it never occurred to me that dogs can be picky too until I met Athena. We don’t always think about the food we put into their bodies the way we think about what we feed ourselves. That’s why I love spring. Spring-cleaning comes in many forms. We clean the house, of course, but we also clean our bodies AND make sure we’re moving our bodies regularly. Athena is more of my accountability partner than any of my family members. Cassidy works long hours and goes to his office gym once or twice a day. Both kids have P.E. twice a week, but Scarlet also does track and dance fitness. The cat races around with the “zoomies” at 10pm each night. Where does that leave Athena, who isn’t able to control her diet/exercise the way we can?

That leads us to the 10-day detox!

Here are our 5 Spring Goals For Athena:

1 – Exercise at least 5 out of 7 days a week. This is mainly on me because no one else is home with her, and no one else needs regular exercise as much as I do! I absolutely love having Athena as my exercise partner.

2 – Find joy in the little things in life. This should be no problem for Athena who already does this so flawlessly and naturally. It’s me who can learn a few things from her! Perhaps we’re on our goals path together. She inspires me.

3 – Be on top of regular medication and vitamins. She takes monthly medications for prevention of serious diseases.

4 – Make a point to PLAY every day. Play is the spice of life, at any age, and whether you’re a dog or a human.

5 – Spring clean your dog’s system with the 10-day detox. In just 10 days, your dog can be eating better. This March start here to let Supreme Source Pet Food help you feed their soul and detox their system with healthy ingredients and informational tools. They help make it easy for you to switch your pet’s food to something more nutritious. We started our detox!

Athena is a picky eater, which I had never seen in a dog. For her, I picked out Supreme Source Grain Free Turkey Meal & Sweet Potato Dry Dog Food. I’m equally happy with all of the flavors, though. She gets happier about mealtime, so I’m happy we are making the switch. We just started the detox and I already see a big difference. I think we’re all just generally happier when the weather is nice, and/or when we’re getting out there and eating better foods. To spring!

Just think about how different you feel after ten days of eating better and moving your body. I imagine it’s so much more for dogs, who can’t buy their own food or choose when they’re let out to play or walk. I am all for a happier dog!

Her annual vet appointment is next week, and I can’t wait to hear what they say about her.

The 10-Day Detox: 5 Spring Goals For My Dog — 34 Comments

  1. I absolutely LOVE looking at photos of your dog. She is just gorgeous. This sounds like fabulous food! I only have cats, and I only want to serve them the best so they stay with us a long time!

  2. You know I really like your beautiful dog! I can only hope my new puppy can turn out so well. We are off to a great start, but it’s a lot of work at this point.

    But worth it 🙂

  3. I am with Athena as this is my favorite time of the year, specially changing the clocks for daylight savings time. That extra hour of light just so improves my mood ten fold! That said now I would be very happy not to see anymore snow and for spring to finally show itself here 😉

  4. I love that Supreme Source is grain-free. My dog is picky, like very picky. And he’s kinda of lazy, so I feel like we definitely should get him on some sort of fitness plan.

  5. I am planning to get a dog sometime this year. I am pretty active person and I can see my pet being into outdoor as well. Kinda funny to see detox on dog I usually see this word for human 🙂 . I love your dog!

  6. Eddie is totally picky too. actually I think he is almost a vegetarian, because he loves leafy salads. Go figure! I need to check out this brand too.

  7. I should do this with our fur babies. We have dogs and kitties at home that would benefit so much from the detox. I think those goals are great. It’s important that we keep them healthy.

  8. You have a lovely dog! You see that you take good care of her. It is very important what we feed our dog. Dogs suffer from similar health problems. As we take care of our health, we must also take care of our dog. Your idea is great.

  9. Your dog is beautiful. I do try to take care of my dog’s health although some people give him things he shouldn’t be having. He has such a weak stomach it’s awful when things go wrong. That’s great you have good organic food there.

  10. What a sweet pup! She’s so pretty. You are a great dog mom, I’m sure Athena appreciates you looking out for her health so well 🙂

  11. What a gorgeous dog you have, Tamara <3 And I notice a change in Buster, too, this time of year. He loves the spring! At least, the days that are mild and sunny as opposed to cold and snowy. I've never heard of a spring detox for dogs, but Buster is all in 🙂

  12. Oh, I didn’t know they can be picky too. I thought any dog food will be okay with them. Good to know about this product.
