Thin Mint Shooters Rock My World

I promised you a celebration, and a celebration is going to happen.

Whether it's #StPatricksDay or not, these Thin Mint Shooters are sure to be a hit at any party! They are so delicious and easy to make. WOW guests. #recipe

And you may be thinking, “Well I came here, because I was told there’d be cake?” because that’s exactly how my mom operates. If she goes to a birthday party and they run out of cake, or serve it too early or too late, she remembers. She’s shrewd like that. I don’t have cake for you, but I have something I believe is even better – GIRL SCOUT COOKIES – and served in a brand new delicious way, no less! SHOOTERS! So get out your Girl Scout cookies, or order them if there’s still time.

Personally, I’ve been stockpiling Tagalongs, but they’re not part of this recipe.

Thin Mints

For the rest of this week, you will be visited by three Christmas St. Patrick’s Day/Beauty and the Beast ghosts. I like to tell people what to look forward to – because I hate surprises – so this is post #1. Tonight, post #2 will be a Beauty and the Beast recipe. Remember my Chip the Teapcup Treats? You can expect more of that! Then, tomorrow morning (or afternoon or evening, if I can’t get my act together) I’ll post Part 1 of our Magic Kingdom visit! Three fun posts to end your week.

Thin Mint Shooters

I’m ready for this week to end. We had a snow day, and then one of those magical mornings in which Des had a one hour delay, Scarlet had a two hour delay, and our town didn’t do a good job at plowing our roads. As usual, I’m overworked, underfed, and excited for my Thursday afternoon with Des. You could make this a virgin drink, and we all know I only drink virgin drinks, but I’ll let you make that call! Celebrations are celebrations, aren’t they? You choose your own adventure.

It’s a Choose Your Own Drink Adventure Day!

Frozen Strawberry Lime Mojito Slushies

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of 7UP®. The opinions and text are all mine.

*Must be 21 years of age or older to drink alcohol. Please drink responsibly.

Looking for the perfect, refreshing, anytime-of-year party drink? This recipe calls for refreshing mint, sweet strawberries, tart lime, and 7UP. #7Waysto7UP

As far as parties go around here, I think we’re pretty top-notch! No party here is complete without party snacks, party laser lights, and party drinks. My husband makes top-notch drinks – with alcohol or without – and will wrap anything in bacon!

Let’s talk about drinks, though. We are mojito people around here. Cassidy likes mojitos with rum, and I don’t, but somehow we have a recipe that is so versatile that it can be enjoyed by everyone – regardless of having rum or not. One of the key ingredients is 7UP – and it’s the perfect way to share good times at parties, celebrations, events, or even just a night-in by mixing up our normal routine. Our frozen slushie drink can be enjoyed during the warm months that I love so much:

And during the cold winter months, when you need a drink that is both soothing and energizing all at once!

Snow day drink! What I love is that the mint is refreshing, the strawberries are sweet, the lime is tart, and the 7UP is the perfect, versatile complement to our mixed drinks. It provides more flavor and tastes sensational which makes this a wonderful anytime drink. Whether you use 7UP in a fun cocktail or mocktail, a fruity or citrus punch, or even in baking or marinade food recipes, I’ve found incredible uses for it in every form. What I LOVE is my creative mixed drink – Strawberry Mojito Slushies.

Recipe Time:

Frozen Strawberry Lime Mojito Slushies

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 3 servings

Serving Size: 1 mojito glass

Frozen Strawberry Lime Mojito Slushies

  1. 1 cup 7UP 2L
  2. 6-12 mint leaves
  3. 2 Tbsp sugar
  4. 1 lime juiced
  5. Lime wedges for garnish
  6. 4 cups ice
  7. 1 cup fresh strawberries
  8. 4 ounces rum of choice (1/2 cup) *Optional

  • 1. Muddle the mint leaves, sugar, and juiced lime with a handful of ice
  • 2. Add this mixture with the 7UP, (optional) rum, strawberries, and the rest of the ice to blender
  • 3. Blend until smooth

This perfect, refreshing mojito can be made as a mocktail or with rum - and is equally good each way. The fresh mint, sweet strawberries, and tart lime are soothing, while the 7UP provides a perfect lemon/lime twist.

Easy, right? I don’t know what it is about the drink, but the color, taste, and texture make me happy. I’m proud to serve this drink at any party or social gathering at my house, and also happy to bring the ingredients to a party elsewhere.

I first introduced this drink at a party over the holidays.

It was the first time in EIGHT years that we had made it to one of their “famous” parties. Maybe I should say infamous, because they generally end with my dad blasting AC/DC as loud as it can possibly get – until it doesn’t sound like music anymore – and then the generation above me (and below) rocks themselves to sleep. It rocks, so to speak, and I’m happy to say that after all this time, my parents still party like the best of them! After the party we went to a friend’s wedding in PA.

holiday party

Back to the party, though! It was our first holiday party of quite a few this December and I was in charge of beverages. I LOVE being in charge of beverages. Then I can go and charm my parents and their friends with these beauties:

LOOK: a real snowflake landed on one!

I buy my 7UP right in my town at Stop & Shop. You can also get it at Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle.

Make sure to check out Savory Magazine in the “New Flavors” edition until March 30th to save $1.00 when you buy two 7UP 2-Liter bottles! What ways do you use the versatile and wonderful 7UP? I’d love to hear them in the comments! #7Waysto7UP
