I’m not sure where I’m going with that but one of my friends once put rainbow sprinkles in her kids’ broccoli to make them eat it. Suffice it to say, it didn’t work. It will with this recipe, though! This is simple and festive. A sweet and inspiring way to ring in a new year. I love how simple it is and how it will delight guests of all ages. My kids? Obsessed. Me? Obsessed too.

What’s not to love? Cookies. Sprinkles. Chocolate. Fortunes.

This year, we’re doing what we normally do, but with a slight hitch. We always have our dear friends over from Chicago and then invite various other friends from New England to join in. At a minimum, we have eight party guests, but it’s never been that low. Usually we’re at a solid 15 or so. Our guests are actually coming tonight to stay for five nights. Last night was my last night brushing my teeth in the kids’ bathroom and then going to bed on the crappy futon in the guest room. Not longer than 15 minutes after I got up, Cassidy took that futon to the dump with ceremony! Tonight, we will use our brand new bathroom and sleep in our brand new bedroom, overlooking the chicken coop. Magic! It’s not done, but it’s close enough.

  1. Okay, I love fortune cookies!! Well to be honest, I love the fortune part of the cookie best 🙂 Believe it or not, when I was a kid I got a fortune that read, “You will grow up to write fortunes for fortune cookies!” That was in the day when they weren’t so mass manufactured with the lottery numbers and all.

You certainly have a busy life. Very glad you will be coming to La Florida soon. The warm breezes are waiting 🙂

  2. Hi Tamara, I had to laugh your cookies look like people pulling moonies! That’s the first thing that came to mind. The do look perfect for a New Year gathering though. We don’t celebrate the New Year as such, I tend to use it as a time for reflection… There is no bed like our own bed!

Wishing you all the best for 2018!

    xx
