I always staunchly stated that I was simply NOT a cat person, nor would I ever be one. I have always preferred dogs and their obvious friendliness and complete willingness to do anything fun or snuggly with me. Never did I realize that a beautiful black and white cat would slip into our house (by way of being a kitten found in our garden!) and then slip into my heart. Subtly. It wasn’t instant, but what amazing things ever develop so instantly? As I write this, she’s snuggled next to my foot in my office.
I’d have to have a heart of stone not to love her back, considering the way she loves me. She sleeps spooned against my stomach on the coldest of days, and stays by my hip with her paws in the air on the hottest of days. She follows me EVERYWHERE I go, including the bathroom, and sits patiently for me on the bathroom floor while I shower. She greets me in the morning with a throaty, beepy meow and rises herself on two legs to feel a good head scratch from my fingers.
It’s more than that. Dinah has become our family cat. She doesn’t hiss, bite or scratch – although the latter has happened accidentally. She never has litter box accidents and she’s not a puker. Other than a respiratory infection that had my poor mama heart worried enough to scoop her off to the vet, she’s healthy, soft, vibrant and active. She has been known to snuggle with Des, and has even warmed to Scarlet’s over-enthusiasm to carry her around like a baby doll through the house.
So how do we give back to Dinah? With love, snuggles, scratches, a clean litter box, and high-quality food. That last one is the most important, since cats need high quality food. SHEBA cat food has no fillers and meat is always the first ingredient in their foods. That means that Dinah is getting more protein and less filling. Cats do not need to be carb loaded with fillers!
I loved working with Vocalpoint and SHEBA! They shipped me a cat food kit and we tried it out on the first day. Dinah liked her delicious SHEBA cat food from the start, as you can see:
