Goodbye To You.

Song lyrics (mostly) by Scandal. I just inserted one word over and over..

Those times I waited for you seem so long ago
I wanted you far too much to ever let you go

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

You know you never got by your fear to choose
And I guess I never could stand to lose

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

It’s such a pity to say

Goodbye to you..winter
Goodbye to you..winter

How could I have loved someone like the one I see in you?

These last few weeks of holding on
The days are dull, the nights are long

Guess it’s better to say

No need to talk about it

It’s not the same
My love for you’s just not the same

And my heart, and my heart

Goodbye baby
So long darling
Goodbye to you

This is my long, photo-strewn way of saying, “Hello” to spring. I’m certain this song may be in your head for the next 17 days. The gleeful photos in between goodbye song lyrics? That was by master-Tamara design. I don’t have so much to say today that I can’t say with lyrics and photos. Even if I tried to say more, I’d be racing downstairs to put eucalyptus oil on Scarlet’s feet and/or hold the tissue while she blows her nose. Sick day? Sick week. Enjoy the first day of spring! See ya at #AskAwayFriday!

Goodbye To You. — 144 Comments

    • ha! Yes. Don’t tell anyone but some of these photos of him were actually taken in December, before he knew how to walk! I think next winter will be his time for some snow fun.

  1. Oh my! I actually got to your post early in the day…because I am STILL home with two sick kids, And we have the V word. Going to doctor today. Anyhoo! LOVE your pictures, Scarlett throwing the snow around and you always capture Cassidy looking like a big, fun kid. Love the song lyrics and can’t believe you have snow again.

    • Oh no!! I think we need the doctor now too. Both kids are sick. No “V” word but we do have fevers and coughs. Potential ear pain too.
      Calgon, take me away!!

  2. There’s nothing more to say – the pictures say it all. I truly hope we are saying good-bye because I am DONE! Best wishes to Scarlet for a speedy recoveryโ€ฆsounds like she’s on the road to recovery with her attentive mama.

  3. MOOSE HAT! Be gone, winter, be gone! My birthday is tomorrow, which means the first day of spring! Sadly, the weather rarely seems to cooperate, but maybe this year we’ll get lucky.

    • We have so many moose hats in our house that I can never remember which one fits which family member. Des has a big head. I have a small head. Cassidy is ginormous. Scarlet is small. We share a lot of moose hats!
And a very Happy Birthday to you! I’ll remember tomorrow but for all I know I’ll be buried under two sick kids. That’s right – Des got it too.

        • Thank you! It doesn’t surprise me because he drank from her water on the first day she was sick. Oops. He seems to have it more mild – the baby version. Lower fever, less coughing, bigger appetite. (although this boy has never turned down food)

  4. My girls have the same jacket as Scarlet by the way and I will say I am truly not sad to see winter go, but my girls may be a little, because they loved the snow and made plenty of snow angels this year, too. But again, Happy Spring and hoping Scarlet is feeling better today, too. Hugs xoxo ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I think I’ve seen that before – that your girls have that jacket! What’s funny is that it’s getting too small and she refuses to give it up and wear her brand new 4T one! This one is 3T!
And don’t tell anyone but these are old photos. I’m way behind.

    • Wait, didn’t you say you needed to hire a professional photographer to come with you for your family vacation photos?
      No? Oh. Darn.
I’m a little sad you’re going on vacation. Isn’t that weird? We’ve never even met! Ah, social media.

  5. There is nothing like the magic of watching kids play in the snow! My kids don’t do it so much anymore, so we are saying goodbye to skiing for the winter. I think they’re hoping the snow holds in the mountains so they can go over spring break, but we shall see. As for me, I’m done with the cold weather!

    • I think it often does stay in the mountains. Until May or June sometimes!
It’s funny because these are actually old photos and Des couldn’t even walk yet when they were taken! This was December. So we still look like..we actually don’t mind the snow.

    • All linked up! Why did it make me #1 I wonder? I should be #3?
Anyway! I had a terrible night of sleep because Scarlet had a 101 fever so I was all worried about meningitis and pneumonia and everything else that late night mothers worry about. Then I woke up this morning and it was still dark but I heard one lone and beautiful bird singing. It was..incredibly hopeful.

      • Thank you! I always worry much more at night, when it’s dark outside. The mornings are always so much better for me. What’s that quote? Something about how it’s darkest right before the dawn? That’s me!

Any way, I have the linky set up in “reverse” order so that the newest links are first. So yes, you are #1! ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • Yay for being #1, for now anyway! And yes, I have no love for nighttime. I think I used to like it when I was younger, but for me, problems always seem smaller on a sunny morning.

  6. Of course, I’m singing along as I read. I LOVE it.. laughing.. saying goodbye to this long, nasty winter. I’m ready to defeat the White Witch and free Narnia from this endless winter!!!!

    • haha, I can’t get it out of my head! My husband didn’t know the song reference. Has he been asleep throughout his life? It’s a huge hit!
And yes, tell the White Witch and even nice Elsa to free us from this. Today was supposed to be 46 and sunny, I though? I feel robbed.

    • Yeah, New England is no picnic. I always thought the midwest was worse, though. I went there in January once and thought I’d flash freeze to death.

    • Right? And some people don’t even know it! They must have slept through the 80’s! Granted, I was only two when it came out but Cassidy was ten and he doesn’t remember!

  7. Those pictures almost made me want to come and play in the snow… almost – because I’m REALLY glad that Spring is finally here. Even though it was -6 yesterday morning, but I decided to put away all scarves/hats/gloves anyway – and today it has warmed up to above freezing ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope your two munchkins feel better soon!

    • It’s supposed to be 46 and partly sunny here today. I’ll believe it when I see it because right now it’s a gloomy 38. I’m suffering. I’m such a spring/summer/fall person. I need my vitamin D!

  8. I’m with you – Goodbye Winter – no need to hurry back!!
Sorry that Scarlet is still sick – no fun.
Those last few pictures of Des are awesome – a little bit ornery looking for sure!!!

    • haha! Those were actually taken in December, right before he learned how to walk. So he was just plopped down in the cold snow, and couldn’t really do a thing about it. No wonder his face looks like that!

  9. Oh bless your heart!!!! I am SO sorry you guys have been sick! I just love how you did this, Tamara!! The pictures with the lyrics… just perfect!!!! I am off to Florida in a few hours…..

I am so ready for sun and warmth! We are visiting my dad and step mom- so cheap trip we will take INDEED. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. What Spring? It’s cloudy, rainy, ucky and freezing outside. Lol Mother nature is being a big B and I don’t appreciate it anymore! I want pretty flowers so I can admire from afar lol <- pollen allergy. I just want to wear dresses and not be cold. Lol. ๐Ÿ™‚ Beautiful photos as always Tamara! Happy Hump Day! -Iva

    • True, today isn’t exactly warm and sunny. 40ish and cloudy. Ah well. Tomorrow will be 50! Joyous of joys! I have pollen allergy too but I start the nasal prescription stuff back in February every year and it does help a lot.

    • haha, thanks! I only tweaked one word, but it really makes the rest of it fit.
I am so done with this winter that I can’t even accurately describe what it has done to me. Both kids are sick right now so I’m not feeling the joy, but I will. Oh, I will.

  11. Beautiful photos. I really wish we could say goodbye to winter but it’s like we’re stuck in a winter weather time warp in the Northeast. I won’t be complaining about summer this year!

    • It’s so true about the Northeast. Tomorrow is supposed to be 52 or so and I might really get down with that. A nice 60-70 day would do WONDERS for my mood.

  12. Ahhh Lovely photos as always! I’m gonna miss the winter & snow photos, and I’m excited for the spring photos. We don’t have those seasons in our country so its nice to see photos of those. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you! Don’t tell anyone..but they’re not new. I’ve just been late with catching up on personal photos! Glad I finally did. Feels symbolic to finally upload them on the last day of winter.

  13. You make me emotional. Why is that? What a family, Tamara! And the memories you are creating through these pictures and words… They are lucky to have you as a mom. ๐Ÿ™‚ Goodbye winter!

    • I don’t know but I like it! Thank you for that.
We are a fun family. We do have our bickering, though. Sheesh. Winter needs to end. Like..more than just on the calendar. It needs to END.

  14. I love your pictures (especially Des sitting on the snow, just chillin)! And your formal goodbye to winter. Scarlet has a beautiful smile. I see her brightening up any room she walks into

    • She does, but she can also scream a door off its hinges! Hoo boy. The drama sometimes.
Thank you for loving my pictures! These were actually taken before Des could walk so I just plopped him down and he stayed. Hard to imagine now.

  15. These photos are too cute! I was just reading Janine’s blog about the great spikes in temperature the east coast has sen. The fact that you all had the time move forward and those spikes in temperature is a great sign! And March is in full swing yay! I hope no more snow from here on out! xo

    • Yes, no more snow! There’s supposed to be up to an inch tonight, but it will melt tomorrow. If it even happens. We are like prisoners to this winter – let us free!

  16. Spring failed to load in Canada. It’s actually snowing a bit of a blizzard outside my door.
I will not photograph it. No Winter – Just No! Enough. Do not tempt me to grab my camera with how you lie there all glittery like in the sun. All soft and powdery upon tree limb.
    I shall resist!
Pray for strength for me ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ll just sit here and enjoy your beautiful pictures and deny what is outside my own window.

    • hmm…give Canada a chance – you still have until 1:00 pm tomorrow to make the spring deadline! (yeah right)
It’s supposed to be 52 and sunny(ish) here so that either means it will be sunny for one minute at a whopping 46 degrees, on average, or we will all be surprised and it will go up to 60.

    • Yes, seriously! Winter, don’t let the door hit you on your way out.
      Ugh!
I really can’t wait to have spring photos! We have such a fun yard and garden.

  17. Yes, goodbye winter. Although, there is snow in our forecast for tonight. ๐Ÿ™ But it is supposed to change to rain and be warm tomorrow, so maybe – just maybe – all our snow will be gone tomorrow. YAY! Then it will feel more like spring.

  18. Beautiful pictures and my gawd I want the horrible winter to be done and over with for all of you folks back east. Crazy with Mother Nature this season. For reals…I write to this song frequently and have for the past couple of years, Tamara.

      • I’m one of those that most often listens to music for the sound and vibe. Not necessarily the words. It just gets me pumped up in a good mood. But now that I think about the words probably not the best karma for my stuff going on right now ya know, Tamara?

  19. Yes, please…Good bye Winter!!!! (Unfortunately for me I looked at the forecast and saw another ****ing snowflake rearing it’s ugly head next week. April and May can’t come fast enough. Though your kids definitely looked like they were enjoying themselves in the snow. Beautiful pictures…as always!

    • What’s funny is that my husband’s birthday is in mid April and he remembers even having snowstorms sometimes then! April is a weird month but I have to believe it will be better than this!

  20. Wow! Its finally here, even though the weather says differently! Springtime! I’m so excited for the warmth and just overall good feelings and vibes that spring brings along with it. Those photos of your family in the snow are amazing! If I could get photos like that, I wouldn’t mind dealing with maybe another week of winter! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • haha, thanks! The photos are from December in truth so that was when we still could handle this. It snowed last night. Today might be 50 and sunny. We shall see!

  21. Amazing pictures Tamara ! Yes finally goodbye winter and Hello Spring !! ๐Ÿ™‚ Can’t wait to see lovely blossoms. Sorry to here both the kids are sick, hope they recover soon to enjoy the sunny days ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Perfect song and perfect photographs! I love Scarlet’s snow angel–I’m all jealous…I’ve never made one myself!!

  23. I’ll say bye to winter too! Love all the photos! I want to caption your hubs, “What does the fox say” and I love the snow being thrown into the air.

        • Me too! And I live in the Fall capital of the world! It’s absolutely glorious here in October. People come from all over the country (and world) to be “leaf peepers.”
And I just keep thinking, “Winter is coming.”

  24. {Melinda} These photos just leave me with a big ol’ grin. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m in Florida so we never really get to say “hello” to winter. However, I’m always quite ready to say goodbye to summer. July in Florida is just awful.

    • Oh, I hear you. I was in Florida in July once and I thought I might pass out at SeaWorld. Luckily I just sat at the splashdeck. I guess each place has its pros and cons, and what we can handle/enjoy!

    • Please do! You’re always invited. And Cassidy’s hat is amazing. He wears it everywhere and I always imagine that women probably love it. I would!

    • That sounds…so good. Sun and warmth! New England doesn’t have those as strongpoints, at least not consistently around now. I’m aching for it, though.

  25. I had to look up that song, I’ve never heard it but now my son won’t stop singing it. Great pics and I hope we are saying goodbye, it’s been a long, cold winter.

      • It did, from one half-play of it. He walked around singing it for about 30 minutes. I kept absent-mindedly saying “stop jack” “stop it” and he kept giggling and singing it. Catchy tune, apparently. I had to distract him with dessert to get him to stop.

  26. So happy for spring to be finally here! Your kids’ expressions are priceless, Tamara. Des is going to be such a sly prankster! I can just see him being oodles of fun.

  27. I absolutely love this! I’m so done with winter and I better not hear anything about “snow” coming for a long time! I’m so happy that spring is officially here and thankful that today the sun is shining bright! Though, it’s shining right into my eye…really have to do something about that curtain, lol.

  28. This is just perfect in oh so many ways. I usually love winter, and snow…but this winter was just a bit of overkill! Your dedication is perfect!

  29. Your pictures are GORGEOUS! This was the perfect way to say goodbye to winter!

Thanks for linking with the Spin Cycle!

    • Thank you!! It’s really the only thing I like about winter…the photos.
I love Spin Cycle and I was so excited to have something appropriate for once!

  30. As usual your pictures are amazing! I am so impressed and you are soooo talented! Your family is adorable! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait until the warm weather returns!

    • Thank you so much! And thank you for visiting!
Today was 56 and sunny late in the day – felt amazing. I can’t wait to see what 76 feels like! I can barely remember..

  31. It’s hot and humid where I am right now, and I hear it’s snowing in Maine. How I wish spring really would come. It’s going to take a long time for all the snow to melt! Love your winter photos though. So much fun.

    • Yes! Make it stop! I have never wanted spring more than I do this year. I am yearning for it. It’s been a long winter and I have a one-year-old so it will be his first chance to run in our grass. Last year he just sat!

  32. This is awesomeness – the song and all the pics! Good bye and good riddens, winter! There’s still some stubborn snow that refusees to melt off of our patio. I’m looking foward to spring ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t believe we have to go through an entire season before we get to experience the beautiful weather that we had in Florida last week.
