As far as parties go around here, I think we’re pretty top-notch! No party here is complete without party snacks, party laser lights, and party drinks. My husband makes top-notch drinks – with alcohol or without – and will wrap anything in bacon!
Let’s talk about drinks, though. We are mojito people around here. Cassidy likes mojitos with rum, and I don’t, but somehow we have a recipe that is so versatile that it can be enjoyed by everyone – regardless of having rum or not. One of the key ingredients is 7UP – and it’s the perfect way to share good times at parties, celebrations, events, or even just a night-in by mixing up our normal routine. Our frozen slushie drink can be enjoyed during the warm months that I love so much:
Snow day drink! What I love is that the mint is refreshing, the strawberries are sweet, the lime is tart, and the 7UP is the perfect, versatile complement to our mixed drinks. It provides more flavor and tastes sensational which makes this a wonderful anytime drink. Whether you use 7UP in a fun cocktail or mocktail, a fruity or citrus punch, or even in baking or marinade food recipes, I’ve found incredible uses for it in every form. What I LOVE is my creative mixed drink – Strawberry Mojito Slushies.

Recipe Time:
Ingredients
- 1 cup 7UP 2L
- 6-12 mint leaves
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 lime juiced
- Lime wedges for garnish
- 4 cups ice
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 4 ounces rum of choice (1/2 cup) *Optional
Instructions
- 1. Muddle the mint leaves, sugar, and juiced lime with a handful of ice
- 2. Add this mixture with the 7UP, (optional) rum, strawberries, and the rest of the ice to blender
- 3. Blend until smooth
Notes
This perfect, refreshing mojito can be made as a mocktail or with rum - and is equally good each way. The fresh mint, sweet strawberries, and tart lime are soothing, while the 7UP provides a perfect lemon/lime twist.

Easy, right? I don’t know what it is about the drink, but the color, taste, and texture make me happy. I’m proud to serve this drink at any party or social gathering at my house, and also happy to bring the ingredients to a party elsewhere.
It was the first time in EIGHT years that we had made it to one of their “famous” parties. Maybe I should say infamous, because they generally end with my dad blasting AC/DC as loud as it can possibly get – until it doesn’t sound like music anymore – and then the generation above me (and below) rocks themselves to sleep. It rocks, so to speak, and I’m happy to say that after all this time, my parents still party like the best of them! After the party we went to a friend’s wedding in PA.

Back to the party, though! It was our first holiday party of quite a few this December and I was in charge of beverages. I LOVE being in charge of beverages. Then I can go and charm my parents and their friends with these beauties:

Make sure to check out Savory Magazine in the “New Flavors” edition until March 30th to save $1.00 when you buy two 7UP 2-Liter bottles! What ways do you use the versatile and wonderful 7UP? I’d love to hear them in the comments! #7Waysto7UP
Omg, these look delicious and I am a huge mojito fan totally. Now I need to try this version of them and can’t thank you enough for sharing, my friend!! 🙂
Of course!! They are SO GOOD! Scarlet and I took ours virgin and we were not disappointed.
I’m not big on mojitos but my husband is, but I am so loving Cassidy’s style. Who doesn’t love anything wrapped in bacon? I am going to have to give one of those mojitos a try with the rum and get back to you.
That’s like Cassidy. It’s his drink of choice, where I can generally think of others I want. Then you add strawberries and suddenly I’m excited!
So you had me at strawberries! I will definitely try this recipe. Thanks, Tamara.
That’s what did it for me too. I quite enjoyed it!
I love me a mojito but the mixes are just not quite there. I love this slushy idea and can’t wait to try it. Cinco de Mayo needs to come a little faster 🙂
I love mojitos and I love the twist that you have added. The slushy idea is simply amazing and I am thinking that why didn’t I come up with this before? Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea.
Cherry 7UP! Holla! That looks absolutely refreshing. I love the spin on making it into a slushie. Perfect for this warm weather that’s coming up soon…hopefully!
It IS coming, right? Today was dreadful here.
Such a coincidence! I was just thinking of strawberry drinks earlier today. Seems to be that great minds think alike. I could SO use a mojito at the moment – thanks for this recipe. Very happy (and coincidental!) that I stumbled upon it.
Nice recipe, Tamara. Thanks for sharing. I wouldn’t have thought of 7-Up for Mojitos.
I know! Seltzer just wasn’t doing it for me, though. This is GOOD!
I love me a cold fruity drink on a warm day. This recipe looks so easy to make. I will have to try this – I honestly never thought of adding 7up to a mojito. Yummy! I am ready for summer!
Why have I never had a mojito before? These look delicious!
It was my first one!!
wow, I am huge, huge fan of mojitos. That said, I never thought of using 7 up to make them. You did a fab job of showcasing them, so mouthwatering that I am going to try them for an upcoming brunch. and I agree everything tastes better with bacon.
Oh wow you guys know how to host! Those drinks looks amazing and I love the bacon wrapped asparagus. YUM
Mojitos are my favourite drink!! We drink them in the summertime in Italy all the time! I also love the combination of strawberry and lime!
This sounds like the perfect drink to bring in the Spring!! I am counting down the days ’til our first grill and I think I will have to add this drink to the menu for sure. Oh and those bacon wraps may make the list as well 😉
YUM! This looks so good! I am a huge mojito fan… but I always forget about them when I sit down to order a cocktail at a bar. Thanks for the reminder (and also the recipe so I can make this bad boy at home 🙂
Aww, you kids look amazing all dressed up! Hope you had a great time at the Trey show!
XOXO
That’s like Cassidy! So then he makes them at home. I think he loves that process.
My mouth watered throughout this entire post! YUM! Always looking for a tasty summer drink to mix up in my Vitamix. Will be pinning this for later. And anything wrapped in bacon is good in my book. Thanks for the tasty post and inspiration!

I don’t drink alcohol but I tell you what, that looks mighty delicious! Any tips for making it virgin??
I LOVE that you made this virgin! I don’t drink alcohol and I tell you what, I haven’t found many recipes where removing the alcohol ruined the drink overall. I’m in love with this.
This is perfect for you! I don’t drink a sip of alcohol and this has made me totally happy.
I think you do parties top notch for sure! That snow picture, brrr. Come visit, it’s 70 here today 🙂 7UP in all of it’s forms is pretty much the best thing ever!
Today is the coldest day by far! Come visit! Just kidding..
It has been ages since I have drank a 7Up. However, this recipe encourages me to go get some ASAP just so I can give these slushies a try. They look so delicious by the way.
I’ve never had a mojito but it looks yummy. A long time ago I would make virgin Pina colads all the time. But it’s been years since I made one.
Mm.. I’ve never had one! I can’t believe that. I used to drink virgin Strawberry daiquiris, though!
I’m putting that one aside. It looks amazing!
