Winter mornings in February. Am I right to say they need a little comfort?

I know I have readers in Florida and California, and all across the world, but I suppose you have your gloomy mornings too! I’ve got such an interesting life in that I make my own schedule, while also battling my time management deficiencies. I can clear my mornings, but I have a really tough boss to contend with – myself. And that boss is ruthless in the work aspect of the mornings, but also stringent about slow and nourishing breakfasts. Simply put – they are a must. No fast food on the go.

Just a little of this and a little of that. Perfection.

Why should you try this? Well, because of Berries and Cream! In this case, cream means Hood Calorie Countdown. And it’s creamier than you can imagine, as well as with more nutritional benefits. You cannot beat that for a morning breakfast, ESPECIALLY, on a gloomy Monday morning in which your son has gotten up WAY too early. I realize how specific that is..

So onto the nutritional benefits. Hood Calorie Countdown is creamy and delicious and a wonderful dietary addition to those looking to live a healthier lifestyle. Sounds good, right? It’s a milky smooth dairy beverage with 42% fewer calories, 75% less sugar, and 67% fewer carbs than milk. Not only that, it provides 25% of your Daily Value for calcium, as well as 15% of your Daily Value for Vitamin D (based on a 2,000-calorie diet) per one cup. I also have to mention that it’s made from Hood – a leader in high quality dairy products! Hood Calorie Countdown blends ultra-filtered milk with water, cream, and other ingredients to get that delicious, creamy taste. AND delivers fewer calories, less sugar, and fewer carbs than regular milk.

Walmart carries Whole, 2%, Fat Free, and even a chocolate-flavored choice to pick from, and all varieties are made with milk from farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones. Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat (per 1 cup serving) has 70 calories/42% fewer calories than traditional whole milk, 3 grams carbs/75% fewer carbs than traditional whole milk, and 2 grams sugar/75% less sugar than traditional whole milk. This is the kind I use to make my Berries and Cream Oatmeal!

This is how I start my morning. I put 1/2 cup of oats and 1 full cup of Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat in a saucepan, and heat until ready. Then I drizzle with mixed berries and a little bit of honey. It is SO good, and even better paired with fresh eggs. And I get them every morning because we have 11 chickens in our yard! It’s breakfast perfection.

Berries and Cream Oatmeal with Hood Calorie Countdown — 8 Comments

  1. Yum!!! Your oatmeal looks delicious!!! I’ve been on an oatmeal for breakfast kick lately. I’ve been adding diced apples into my oatmeal, but these strawberries and raspberries are making me want to add some berries.

  2. This looks delicious, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that brand here where we live. I will have to check, but I doubt it. I can however replicate your recipe with an alternative which I just might.

  3. I don’t really do dairy as it doesn’t sit well with me. To be honest, I’ve never heard of this product. Sounds like a nice option for those who love milk but want to keep the calories down. I do eat berries almost every morning:)

  4. Strawberries are my fave. Oatmeal is my fave. So why am I afraid to mix the two? I don’t know, but I never ever do it. I’ll even buy the instant kind that has the strawberries in it, but I have never in my life put a piece of fresh fruit in my cereal. I just wasn’t raised that way. Haa!!!! this looks excellent, as always, Tamara.
