BIG Life Changes, and What’s Next

Thank you GEICO for sponsoring this post.

Going through life's major milestones? I find that they tend to come, one after the other. That's why GEICO is a resource beyond insurance. #ExpectMoreFromGEICO #ad

You know that feeling when you’re on the precipice of change, but you know you’re not going to fall off?

Instead, you might waver or stumble, but ultimately that self-built parachute is always with you, and that self-built trampoline is waiting on the bottom. You’ve had help, you have help, and you’ll always need help, but you know what? You did this yourself. You built your life up until this point. And, you are continuing to build your life in your own grand design.

life changes

Life is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and major milestones – no two ways about it!

For part of last spring, we started seriously looking at houses. We LOVE our house with all of its charm and quirks, and isolated woodsy goodness, but we were starting to outgrow it. That’s probably about the time we started thinking about splitting the kids into two rooms, and then wanting an extra bedroom for guests and/or another baby. And then we’d need yet another bedroom for guests if the baby happened! After going to open houses for a few months, we never found anything better. So we started the bidding process to renovate what we have & love. And essentially turn it into a whole new space!

The land we have is unmatched. And the land we have is home! The process hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.

Phase 1 is just about complete, which was a whole new master bedroom, a whole new master bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Oh, and we also refinished all of our floors! That might have been the hardest, and most displacing part of it all. Once Phase 1 passes final inspection, we will start Phase 2. This one is a two-car garage and two new bedrooms over it! Whoa. I can’t fathom what that will be like. I don’t think I’m indirect at all when I say we want to expand our family. The hows and whats and whens haven’t solidified yet. I think with all this chaos, I had to put that journey on hold. I got scared of bringing or adopting a baby into that craziness. And I worried my children would be too much older than a new baby.

It’s not worth the worry, though. What will be will be, and we feel like we’re in good hands for the next milestone.

GEICO has been a name in my household for decades now, and that’s because GEICO is a resource beyond insurance. I think I’ve always known that, but have learned it a lot more recently with the upheaval of our lives. Peeps N’ Egg Houses Easter Treats

These Peeps N’ Egg Houses Easter Treats are pretty much as adorable and as fun as it gets. And they're easy to make! Make them with your kids, or maybe have the Easter Bunny leave them! The sky is the limit with Easter fun.

No matter where you stand with Peeps, I think there’s something we can all agree on.

They are an iconic symbol of spring! AND, they’re super fun to play around with. I think it must skip a generation because my mom LOVES Peeps, I wouldn’t eat them unless you paid me, and Scarlet loves Peeps. Des does not. As far as I know, Cassidy has never had one in his life! I might be wrong, but we’re a 1 out of 4 family for eating them, and a 4 out of 4 family for playing with them. They’re really magical that way. You can make these for your kids, or you can make them with your kids.

If you’re feeling really enterprising, you can leave them on the table and give the Easter Bunny the credit.

Easter treats

What’s Needed:

1 pkg. Graham Crackers
1 pkg. Edible Easter Grass
1 pkg. Peeps Chicks
6-8 oz. Wilton Chocolate Melts, pink
Easter Candy Eggs, chocolates or jelly beans

What You Do:

1 – Break the graham crackers in half. You’ll need 5 halves for each chicken house.

2 – Melt the chocolate melts according to package directions and put it in a small plastic bag or piping bag.

3 – Lay a graham cracker half down and pipe a line of chocolate on each side of a graham cracker half. Stand a graham cracker half up on each line of chocolate. Hold them until the chocolate sets, about a minute or so.

4 – Now pipe a line of chocolate on top of the two graham crackers that are standing up. Then take 2 more halves and place each one on the chocolate and bend them towards each other so they touch at the top like a roof peak. Hold them for a minute or two. Then pipe a thick line of chocolate right on the crack where the two roof sides meet at the peak. Let this set for 3-4 minutes.

5 – Now put some of the edible grass into each chicken house that you made. Set a peep chick in each one. Add a couple of Easter candy eggs around on the grass in each chicken house.

6 – This is clearly a cute and fun treat for Easter that the kids can all help make! Enjoy!

And.. that’s about as cute as it gets by 8:00am on a gloomy Sprinter morning. Third Winter morning. Mud Season morning. Narnia morning. I don’t even know what to call it but I know that I needed to post something cute and colorful and cheerful, because honestly, how could anyone resist these? They make me want to eat Peeps. They make me want to be a better person. And although I have trouble with the transitions of seasons, there’s something about Easter cheer that has caught me by the heart since the 1980’s. And I love that my kids still see all of the magic of the holiday, and that makes me feel the same way. So really – make these Peeps N’ Egg Houses Easter Treats – because they are so adorable and uplifting.
