5 Spring Resolutions To Help Add Light Into Your Life

We're so close to spring, and I've found a love with Hood Calorie Countdown (especially in chocolate). That's why I'm sharing my 5 spring resolutions to let light into your life! #ad #CalorieCountdown #IC

I can’t help but think about how light it will be at 6pm a week from now.

Daylight Savings is my favorite “holiday” these days. March is a tough one in New England! I’m still wearing my snow boots to walk the dog in the park, and my down jacket hasn’t been put away in the basement for the winter. We have a winter storm watch for Wednesday into Thursday, that will surely be a Winter Storm Warning by the time you may be reading this! I LOVE March, though. My husband keeps calling my bluff, but when I look at my weekend calendar for later this month, it’s all fun birthday parties, Easter Egg Hunts, and Passover Seders. It’s hope. It’s light. And yes, this is my backyard in late winter:

I’m always delayed with my new year resolutions. And I’m ok with that. Often January is for catch-up and vacation for us in Florida. I don’t get too into exercise because it’s often too cold and icy for what I like to do with cardio, and it’s pretty hard to eat healthier when you’re still catching up from the holidays and from vacation. In fact, last March was the turning point for me. I started my new year of 2017 intent on building my blog and Instagram (and Facebook) followings because I had felt I was at a standstill. March is when everything changed. It’s when I took a new course for food photography and started working on crafts and lifestyle tips. For 2018, I find that March is when my goals and resolutions are really gaining speed.

And with REALLY yummy things.

That’s why I’m sharing my 5 Spring Resolutions to Let Light Into Your Life:

1 – Socialize, connect, and reconnect. I used to think it was just me during the winter, but it seems to be universal. Humans are less social. That’s why I focus on friendships during early Spring. I try to make weekly or bi-weekly brunch dates with friends, or at least one friend. I meet friends for Ladies’ Nights, and I talk to other parents at the park with more zest than usual. Spring is a time to laugh, and let that laughter, fresh air, and sunshine help guide you into lighter times.

2 – Get outdoors time as often as possible. My family laughs at me about this one. Our deck is always ten degrees warmer than the air when it’s sunny. On Saturday morning we had about 20 minutes of sunshine before we had to go attend one of my work events. I put on sunscreen and a down coat, and brought a book to read on the deck. It felt GREAT. I wasn’t cold and I was using every opportunity to get more light. Just imagine how I get when it’s more than 20 minutes in 40 degrees!

3 – Approach your goals in baby steps, and with a lot of kindness to yourself. Focus on the positive. I’ve been trying REALLY hard to do that lately. I recently suffered a huge disappointment/pain, and I’m trying desperately to let go of it faster. Every so often, I see the light. I see that I’m pretty ok at most things in my life, and that the one setback doesn’t define me. If anything, it’s the exception to the rule. We all talk about sleeping better, eating better, drinking more water, etc., but sometimes it just takes baby steps and small daily and weekly goals to get there. And you will. Like I will.

4 – Try new things, and new colors. It’s color therapy, I swear! Colors really do affect our moods and that’s why I always try a new spring color every spring. Whether it’s a lip gloss, nail polish, or even just socks, I know it affects my mood. Spring is also a time to try something you’ve always been meaning to try. For me, that might be Yoga or Zumba. Or more!

5 – Eat fresh foods, and try new foods! No doubt, it’s a lighter time of year, and that includes food. You already know how much I love Hood Calorie Countdown but since last time, I have discovered the wonders of the chocolate flavored one too.

As I’ve gotten more active and more hydrated, I’ve also incorporated Hood Calorie Countdown into my diet and my lifestyle. I get it at Walmart, and I’m always happy to see the flavors: Whole, 2%, Fat Free, and chocolate flavored. So many choices to fit into your lifestyle, and ensure that you never have to go without dairy. Let’s talk about the chocolate flavor, since I had it just today with my dinner! Hood Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate has 80 calories – 56% fewer calories than traditional chocolate milk. Not only that, it has 5 grams of carbs, which is 67% fewer carbs than traditional chocolate milk. There are 3 grams of sugar – 75% less sugar than traditional chocolate milk. It’s a wonderful accompaniment to Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat. All varieties are made with milk from farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones.

If you’re looking to incorporate Calorie Countdown into your healthy lifestyle, know that it blends ultra-filtered milk with water, cream (and other ingredients) for a delicious and creamy taste. And this is while delivering fewer calories, less sugar, and fewer carbs than regular milk. Ultimately, it covers my cravings for regular milk and chocolate milk.

To this day, the smell of the Dove Beauty Bar catches me in the heart every time.

Some products are timeless and will be a part of your life from childhood through adulthood, and will go on all of life’s journeys with you. That’s my Dove Beauty Bar. Personally, it’s the Dove Pink Beauty Bar that takes me back. I can remember my Grandma Bella keeping it in her bathtub for houseguests, and wrapping the pink bar in a washcloth for me, and then one for my sister. Now as a mom myself, I buy that same bar for my daughter, and I buy the Dove White Beauty Bar and the Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar for my husband, son, and guests. It makes me think of my Grandma each time.

Also because when it comes to my skincare routine, I won’t settle for less!

I’m not just the hostess with the mostest, and it’s not just that I’m nostalgic for my Dove Pink Beauty Bar. In fact, there are a number of reasons to love all Dove Beauty Bar products. Here’s some awesome info I couldn’t wait to share with you:

1 – A recent Dove survey found that 86% of dermatologists report that the “squeaky clean” feeling means your skin might be stripped of the moisture and nutrients it needs.

2 – Dove gently but effectively cleanses and is cleaner rinsing than soap, providing women with soft, smooth skin.

3 – Dove Beauty Bar is sold at mass, food and drug retailers nationwide.

4 – Dove Beauty Bar is the #1 Dermatologist recommended Bar.

5 – Dove Beauty Bar is the #1 Pediatrician recommended Bar.

I remember the day I traded from my ordinary bar to a Dove Bar. It was like coming home again. I honestly haven’t looked back in well over 15 years. Now that I’m a mama of two, it’s a no-brainer at the store. Dove Beauty Bar is a great value and a product for the whole family. I finally caught on after months of my family stealing my Dove Bar, that I could get them for everyone! I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t occur to me earlier, but hey, I finally caught on! No time like the present.

Remember the fun game, “Two Truths & a Lie”? I LOVE that game. In fact, I have been known to write Two Truths & a Lie posts in which I tell you three stories – two of which are true and one of which is a lie – and I’ve stumped you. We’re going to play now! No peeking and scrolling down. I know you can do this! Are you ready to play Two Truths & a Lie: Dove Beauty Bar Edition? Don’t forget to share what you learn. Debunking common skincare myths is a service to our friends!

1 – Oily skin needs moisture

2 – All cleansers dry out skin

3 – Sometimes it’s okay to wash your face and body with the same cleanser

#2 is the lie! Did you get that right? Regular soaps can dry out your skin, but the Dove Beauty Bar is different. With 1/4 moisturizing cream, it cleans and nourishes skin, while also helping to maintain skin’s natural moisture.

Also, I have totally used the same cleanser on my face and body. Whew.

1 – The cleanser you choose has little relation to your general skin health

2 – Daily use of ordinary and/or premium soap bars can make it more difficult for skin to maintain its natural moisture

3 – Dove Beauty Bar moisturizes while cleansing

Well you KNOW #3 is not the lie! It’s #1 that is the lie. It’s super important to be conscious of what you’re cleansing your skin with, because that sets the tone for your skin health. And Dove Bar lays the foundation for soft and smooth skin!

Did I mention it effectively cleanses too?

1 – The Dove Beauty Bar has been around for over 60 years (well you know it’s been around for over 30 because of my Grandma!)

2 – Soap doesn’t strip skin of its essential nutrients

3 – The dry, tight feeling that you sometimes experience post-cleansing means your skin was cleansed thoroughly without damage

#2 is the lie! The truth is that 92% of dermatologists report that ordinary soap can strip skin of its essential nutrients according to a Dove survey. The signature 1/4 moisturizing cream in the Dove Beauty Bar replenishes nutrients lost during the cleansing process.

1 – Dove Beauty Bar comes in four varieties

2 – Dove Beauty Bar suds and lathers

3 – Dove Beauty Bar does not contain sulfates

Oh, I knew this one! #1! I know this because I’ve been buying Dove Beauty Bar for years now, and it comes in an array of varieties and specialties for your skin type. In fact, there are 14 Beauty Bar varieties! Have you tried them all yet?

Ok, that was fun. I knew a lot and had a lot to learn too! Did you know that a recent Dove survey found that 85% of dermatologists report that women are surprised to hear that they should avoid making their skin feel “squeaky clean”*? Or did you know that the iconic Dove Beauty Bar, with its superior and mild formula, was launched in 1957 and has remained essentially unchanged since then! That’s more than 60 years!

There is so much to learn about Dove Beauty Bar and you can find out a lot more here.

What do you think? Were you stumped by any myths?
