Winter Tic Tac Toe Board Craft

This Winter Tic Tac Toe Board craft is perfect for winter vacation and beyond. My five and eight-year-old kids thought this was the coolest way to spend a snow day.

We’re back from three nights away!

Honestly, it was fantastic. Holidays and travel with family are always so complex – there are layers of weirdness and tension and anxiety and aching. Mostly, it’s just love. And that’s the simplest part. Our Christmas morning festivities had 17 people. Next year? At least 21 people. I don’t think I’ll ever want it to be any other way. I always still think I’m getting to that point – to that person I most want to be. And I know I’ll never stop feeling that way, even if I get to last year’s version of that person, and so on. Meaning, we’re always changing and growing and striving. It’s so complex, but also so simple. Love.

As you know, my mom is a longtime artist and art teacher and she spent half a day doing arts and crafts with my kids. The theme today is snowmen. Christmas is over, but winter has just begun. There’s a lot of time for snowman love. (too much)

Winter Tic Tac Toe Board

Materials:

Felt sheets
Scissors
Ribbon
Small wood slices
Holiday foam stickers or other small decorations
Craft glue

Instructions:

1- Start by squaring off your sheet of felt into a smaller square shape to create your tic tac toe board.

2 – Measure two lengths of ribbon to go across the length of your board and two more to go across the height of it.

3 – Using craft glue or a low temperature hot glue gun, attach the ribbon to form a tic tac toe board pattern on top of the felt. You can see the photo for reference if needed. (below)

4 – Attach your small holiday foam stickers or other small holiday decorations to the front of the wood slices. Use craft glue or a hot glue gun to really make them stick if needed. You will need 5 wood slices in each pattern. For instance, on our board, one side is snowflakes and the other is snowmen. This will work with any combination of holiday decorations.

5 – Lay the board on a flat surface and enjoy playing. It can be folded up for easy storage when you are done!

I’ll be back in more depth this week. Today, I’m a little weak. I worked worked worked like crazy for three months straight, and I’m only on day three of “sort of” not doing any work. It feels weird, but my body needed it. Tonight, I’ll take a nice long bath and maybe watch the season finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” with Cassidy. Speaking of him, we did really well with our Christmas gifts to each other. It had it all! Romance. Love. Thoughtfulness. Dreams. I’m really excited for 2018 and to take this blog and this life farther out there, but for now, I have to learn to REALLY have a vacation and some rest.
